Dealing With Difficult People

Most advice in English about difficult people assumes you can be direct. Say what you mean, set a boundary, have the hard conversation.

This section is written from somewhere else. I spent seventeen years in Brazilian banks, where the direct approach often costs more than the problem, and where you still have to sit next to the difficult person on Monday. What I write here is what to say when you cannot simply walk away.

I am not a therapist, and I say so up front. Read more about who I am and what I get wrong.
